How can you help make our community healthier?
For those of you who don’t work in health you are probably asking ‘what difference can I make in making my community healthier?’
You can actually be the one to make most of the real change. Why is this? Because whether it be in your workplace, industry, community, school or family you have people that look up to you, that listen to you and that can be guided by you. You can be the one to get your tribe to prioritise their health and make it much more than just something that ‘should be done’.
And nobody knows your tribe better then you…. So who else is best placed to lead them?
Why pledge?
It’s a commitment
A pledge is a form of pre-commitment. By doing a pledge it is putting into words how you plan to inspire your tribe making it easier for you to follow through. It also lets us know you are interested in being part of the change.
Helps us understand
Your pledge provides us with an understanding of what you plan to do and then we can help you achieve this. For example, if your pledge is to make sure your family eat healthy meals for dinner 6 times a week then we can see this and connect you to resources to help you do this e.g websites that have healthy recipes, classes to help you cook healthier meals etc.
Joins you to other leaders
After pledging you officially join the community of leaders that have put their hand up to help drive change. As this is an all of community approach working together is key in reducing obesity and type 2 diabetes.
All of our tribes are different so the answer to how we achieve this is not always the same and going at it alone can be difficult. We aim to connect and support leaders so they can influence their tribes to lead healthier lifestyles.
