Research Support Unit

The MIRI Research Support Unit aims to build the capacity of all staff within the Mackay Hospital and Health Service by providing practical assistance, support and advice on all aspects of the research process.

The MIRI Cornerstone Research Program was developed to create a pathway to assist researchers, novice to experienced, in their endeavours.

It is important to have an initial conversation with your clinical lead to discuss your research idea or if there are any other available projects that might interest you.

Once the clinical lead has given support, the Research Support Unit can assist with the following components of the research process:

  • Designing a specific research question
  • Developing a structured project plan that encompasses all considerations of the project
  • Ethics application consultation and assistance with submission
  • Meeting all governance requirements with the development of the Site Specific Assessment
  • Identification of grant opportunities and assistance with grant applications
  • Advice and training in statistical methodology and assistance with data analysis
  • Publication or presentation development.
